Terms of use
Last updated
These terms are numbered so you can point to the one you mean. By using FamilyLine Guide you agree to them. If you disagree with any part, please do not use the site.
- What the site is
- Everything here is general information about phone calls, scams and area codes, offered for informational purposes only.
- It is not legal, financial, security or professional advice. Phone menus, carrier features and government programs change, and what works on one phone or plan may not work on another.
- No guarantees about accuracy
- We work hard to be correct and we date our pages, but we make no promise that anything here is complete, current or free of errors.
- The number checker shows facts about an area code only. It does not identify who owns a number and cannot tell you whether a call is safe.
- You use the information at your own judgment and risk, and you are responsible for checking details with your carrier, bank or the relevant agency.
- Acceptable use
- Do not use this site, or what it shows you, to harass, threaten, stalk, track or intimidate anyone, to find private individuals who do not wish to be found, or to commit fraud.
- Do not try to overload the site, probe it for weaknesses, or send automated bulk requests to the checker or the contact form. We may block access if someone does.
- Using the number checker fairly
- The checker is for ordinary personal use: understanding where a call or text might have come from.
- Do not use results to decide that a person is guilty, to confront someone, or to contact people who do not want to be contacted. An area code only says where a number was first set up.
- Links, sources and third-party names
- We link to the FTC, FCC and other organizations as sources. We do not control those sites and are not affiliated with them or with any phone carrier.
- Names of carriers, agencies and phone makers appear only to describe where a setting lives or where a rule comes from. Mentioning one is not an endorsement or a claim of sponsorship, and mentioning a product or service is not a recommendation.
- Our content
- The text, design and illustrations belong to us. You may quote short passages with a link back.
- Please do not copy whole guides without asking.
- Limits on liability
- To the fullest extent the law allows, FamilyLine Guide and the people who run it are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the site, relying on its content, or being unable to use it.
- This includes money lost to a scam, even where you read a related guide. The site is provided as it is and as available.
- Advice and decisions
- The guides describe steps that many families find useful, such as phone settings, call blockers and a family safe word. Your phone, plan and circumstances may differ.
- Where a guide touches on law, money or health, it is general information, and nothing replaces speaking to a qualified person.
- Messages you send us
- Messages sent through the contact form or by email are used to reply to you and are handled as the privacy notice describes.
- We will never ask for passwords, card numbers or Social Security numbers, so please do not send them.
- Availability
- We may change, pause or remove pages or the checker at any time without notice.
- We try to keep the site available but make no promise that it will always be reachable or error-free.
- Governing law
- These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the operator is established.
- If a part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- Changes and contact
- We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do.
- Questions go to [email protected]. Please also see the privacy notice and the disclaimer.
